- Lead the development of treatment process capability assessments, develop and evaluate sustainable solutions and make investment recommendations

As Lead Treatment Asset Planner within Water and Environmental Services, you will be working in multi-discipline teams to develop investment plans to drive our Long-Term Capital and Operational Plan. The objectives of this role are to manage internal and external stakeholders to develop integrated, adaptive and optimised long-term investment plans for treatment plants and systems that achieve the organisation’s objectives, priorities and obligations.
You will provide expertise and technical knowledge in water treatment process engineering, site and system master planning, strategic planning to develop servicing strategies including developing adaptive plans to best meet the long-term needs of our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Develop long-term strategies for water resource recovery facilities, drinking water filtration plants, and Purified Recycled Water (PRW) facilities to meet growth, regulatory and climate change drivers.
- Lead treatment plant Process Capability Assessments, analysing process performance data, quantifying current performance and defining risks.
- Provide expertise in integrated water cycle management and best-practice planning approaches.
- Drive innovative, sustainable solutions to minimise Sydney Water’s carbon footprint.
- Identify integration opportunities across systems, resources, and services to optimise performance.
- Coach and develop less experienced planners, supporting their growth and career development.
- Represent Sydney Water at industry peak bodies and promote its achievements.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience effectively leading and taking accountability for complex planning programs and/or projects, including scoping and delivery of complex projects with several other project interfaces or other interrelated issues.
- Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills both internal and external to the organisation, with the ability to establish credibility.
- Demonstrated successful experience dealing with stakeholder groups, internal and external.
- A demonstrated expertise in wastewater treatment and biosolids production technologies, including advanced treatment processes to produce high quality effluent
- Experience in coaching, mentoring and technical skill development
- Expert knowledge and experience of integrated and adaptive planning approaches, including scenario planning.
- Experience in successful project delivery
- Experience in successful business case development is desirable.
- Experience in project management is desirable.
Essential Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Infrastructure Management, Planning, Science or a related discipline
- 10-15 years demonstrated experience and skills in the development and management of integrated approaches to urban wastewater and water treatment and infrastructure planning.
- You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of submitting your application to be considered for this role.
