Water Quality Analyst level 2 – Sample Receipt and Calibration team within Laboratory Services

 Location: West Ryde, NSW 2114

Job type: Permanent

  • Base salary $79,539.83 plus 11% superannuation and additional benefits!

An exciting opportunity has become available or arisen for a Water Quality Analyst level 2 to join the Laboratory Services team within Sydney Water.

We are the largest dedicated water and wastewater laboratory in the southern hemisphere with Tier 1 quality in our laboratory and field performance. This allows us to provide the highest level of assurance to the community of Sydney Water’s quality product.

We undertake sampling and analysis across all products, such as source water, drinking water, wastewater, recycled water, environmental waters (i.e. river, beaches, ocean sediments), stormwater, biosolids, sludges, grit & screenings.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chemistry Laboratory Manager, your daily duties include receiving and delivering of samples, preparing bottle packs, performing checks and calibrations of laboratory and field equipment and communicating with stakeholders

Experience and Qualifications:

Certificate, degree or similar qualification in chemistry or equivalent

1 year+ experience working in laboratory or sample receipt and/or calibration/checking of field and laboratory equipment such as titrators, probes, balances and pipettes

 Essential Requirements:

  • Willing to work outside core hours on a rotational basis, flexible start/finish times between 6am to 7pm to meet contractual obligations
  • Undertake sample receipt duties including sorting, receipting, labelling and delivering samples within our chemistry and biological laboratories
  • Performing checks and calibrations of laboratory and field equipment and perform basic routine maintenance as required
  • Undertake Intermediate computer skills working with Microsoft office, Labware (LIMS) and other relevant software packages
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy in following procedures, documentation and data entry
  • Demonstrated experience working within a team, the ability to prioritise high volumes of work and willingness to learn new tasks
  • Knowledge of quality assurance requirements for analysis of water and wastewater products, including NATA ISO 17025 accreditation and ISO 9000 quality system requirements.
  • Work safely, undertake risk assessments and report hazards and incidents
