What will you be doing?

As a Senior Project Manager (PM) you are a leader and manager of extended virtual teams. Leading, mentoring and coaching other Project Managers to be successful, leading, mentoring and coaching agency hire / term Project Managers to work effectively in Sydney Water, ensure PM’s under your leadership deliver effectively and efficiently to our corporate standards, set an example driving our target state cultural culture (Blue Bus & Signature Behaviours), build strong high performing teams of up to 30+ people to deliver large projects and programs, ensure all team members are crystal clear on their roles and responsibilities in the team; from subject matter experts, business analysts, architects, developers, vendors, testers, change managers to project board members etc. each must understand the role they play in each project, oversee several projects in parallel touching many stakeholders

Your role will involve:

  • Day to day technical accountabilities include having a comprehensive knowledge of the following processes. More importantly the Senior PM must be leading, mentoring and supporting other Project Managers in the effective application of these processes including
  • Sydney Water’s implementation of Prince 2,
  • Digital Delivery Platform (DDP)
  • All other business process supporting project, program and portfolio management including those around month and year end.

The continuous longest task a Senior PM may perform could be a projects that run for years. The Senior PM will break this down into stages, workstreams and activities to ensure progress can be effectively measured, monitored reported to a project board monthly.

  • Leadership: Ensure project team members remain motivated, on task and effective. Making sure the project is heading in the right direction to achieve the business benefits.
  • Risk and Issue Management: Identify, capture and manage any risks / issues associated with delivering projects.

Who are we looking for?

The Senior Project Manager is accountable for the execution of project management processes for one or more projects. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated candidates who have:

  • Effective leadership, coordination, and team building skills.
  • Effective negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
  • 10+ years’ experience successfully project managing technology projects; preferably a background in technology delivery before that. 
  • a degree in technology or related sphere. 
  • additional training and qualification in project management (Prince2 Certification).
  • Experience building and maintaining high performing project teams.
  • Ability to influence and motivate both project teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills through various communication methodologies
  • High emotional intelligence
  • A qualification in project management (PRINCE2 Certification / PMI Certification) is desirable.
