About the role

Reporting to the Electrical Services Leader you will set the requirements and lead teams to ensure HV assets are maintainable and operable, and working with stakeholders to ensure that safety, customer and environmental risks are effectively managed.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Coach & mentor Senior High Voltage Specialists within the High Voltage team
  • Review & verify high voltage switching instructions
  • Undertake audits of HV installations, and compliance to work practises to ensure compliance to current standards.
  • Provide expert operations & maintenance input into HV asset planning, renewals and creation processes and asset management policies, strategies & plans.
  • Communicate / negotiate with internal and external stakeholders whilst representing and effectively managing the interests of Sydney Water.
  • Lead the development of operations and safety compliance plans for HV projects with HV Team co-ordination and interaction with Project Delivery teams to deliver SWC compliant and operational safety in design as per SWC Technical Specifications.
  • Management of our High Voltage Operating Protocols and Installation Safety Management Plan (ISMP) with Supply Authorities.

 

About you

This role will suit a team member who is a leader of people, you are engaging and level-headed at a time of problem solving and decision making.

With the ability to work from home, in the office or field as required safety remains your number one priority to effectively manage safety, customer and environmental risks.

To be considered for this position you will require:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ electrical experience including high voltage.
  • Electrical Engineering Degree or Electrical Trade Certificate-3 or Certificate-4
  • Electrical Licence (supervisors certificate NSW or equivalent).
  • Electrical Access Permit Issuer & Recipient certificates
  • HV Switching certificate and or extensive experience.
  • Expertise in developing high voltage switching instructions and managing high voltage assets.
  • Advanced communication skills (verbal and written) and personal qualities (innovative, motivation, self-confidence and tact) including ability to translate technical outcomes to operational needs.
  • High developed skills and experience in coaching and mentoring staff
  • Be innovative and have a developed skill set to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Budget conscious, able to meet targets and deadlines, in working flexibly.
