We are seeking an experienced Lead Maintenance Engineer/Scientist/Specialist who will play a vital role in ensuring Sydney Water meets its obligations by optimising cost, risk, and performance across the asset lifecycle.

This role is central to Operational Service Planning, driving asset creation, maintenance, and renewal strategies within Sydney Water’s value stream.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Implement Assets Programs including Civil Assets, Mechanical & Electrical Systems or Natural Assets
  • Ensures all assets within their locus of control are appropriately identified and managed through SW’s Maximo Asset Management System or HIDRA.
  • Lead the review and development of asset maintenance and renewal strategies. Ensure Asset and Maintenance strategies and asset plans are aligned with the strategies and standards developed by Strategic Asset Management and Performance and are effective
  • Oversight of condition assessment of all assets within their scope, including monitoring for risks and issues. Including the review of asset condition and review of specialist asset condition assessments.
  • Prepare business cases for seed funding for renewals.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering, science, or a related field, and/or demonstrated experience in operations, maintenance, renewals, or the treatment and quality management of water, recycled water, wastewater, or stormwater systems.
  • Expert knowledge of and proven experience in treatment processes/product quality &/or operating assets &/or systems for the delivery of water &/or recycled water &/or stormwater product and services that meet customer and stakeholder expectations
  • Proven experience in the measurement, analysis and evaluation of water &/or recycled water &/or wastewater &/or stormwater systems performance and the ability to develop strategies & work programs to improve performance
  • Sound knowledge of Maximo Asset Management System.
  • Extensive experience in developing and reviewing complex reports, Business cases, strategies or plans for Regulators, Stakeholders or Senior Management.

Essential Requirements:

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of submitting your application to be considered for this role.
  • Current drivers licence or can obtain one immediately
