About the role

Working alongside a successful Environmental Team, as an Environmental Specialist you will provide technical expertise and program management, working across a range of Property Environmental Management Plans (PEMPs), with a focus on weed management and revegetation.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the delivery of tasks outlined within PEMPs (currently 122 sites) on time, within budget, and to required standards
  • Manage program risks including financial, legislative, reputation, safety and environmental risks
  • Engage and instruct Contractors and Consultants (i.e. ecologists, pest management specialists, weed and revegetation specialists, heritage specialists, other) and oversee deliverables including reporting
  • Respond to related unplanned requests from within and external to the business
  • Delegate tasks to the Project Officer and oversee workload deliverables

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary degree in Environmental Engineering or Science (or equivalent)
  • Awareness of NSW and Commonwealth Environmental standards, codes and legislation
  • Strong demonstrated project/program management skills and experience with formal training desired though not required
  • Experience in completing multi-disciplinary technical investigations including engineering and/or scientific or environmental studies
  • Demonstrated experience in the identification and implementation of environmental strategies, actions, risk management, environmental planning, environmental impact assessment, environmental audits and environmental approvals
  • Strong communication skills and ability to triage and delegate workload
  • Valid drivers license

About you:

  • Minimum five years’ experience working as an Environmental Engineer/Scientist or Consultant, with experience in ecological management
  • Project/program management experience
  • Experience in dealing and working with NSW local Councils and government statutory authorities; directly or indirectly 
  • Strong relationship building, stakeholder engagement, and conflict management skills
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to rationalise, identify, evaluate risks and develop alternate options
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent time-management skills
