About the role
This role is an opportunity for a motivated Senior Business Analyst to contribute to Sydney Water’s Developer Platform through the delivery of quality business analysis outcomes to a strategic and transformational program.
Responsibilities
Stakeholder and User engagement
Engage effectively with business and digital stakeholders and with consumers (users) of the proposed solution
Ensure that requirements are based on sound analytics, observations and insights and through research with actual end users.
Work as part of a focussed Squad including Product Owner, Architects, UX Designers, Project Manager, delivery team and business stakeholders.
Working with a wider team of external Solution Integrators (SI), including Architects, Business Analysts and Delivery Team. SI resources are based both in Sydney and offshore.
Outcomes elicitation and analysis
Employ Human Centred Design / Design Thinking in the business analysis approach
Identify and analyse the problem space – customer and business needs, benefits and pain points
Define outcomes and requirements that address the problem space and meet customer and business needs
Communicate the impact of constraints (including solution, schedule and budget) and reach a mutual outcome.
Work with Solution Architects to understand feasibility and comprehend the solution's overall impact on downstream systems.
Capture current systems / programs impact during planning, design and development.
Uncover opportunities to leverage the new technology platform
Traceability & Connection to Strategy
Plan and set direction for how traceability will be managed for the project and ongoing releases.
Confirm that the solution(s) delivered address the needs identified and deliver the business outcomes and value in the Business Case.
Ensure that testable outcomes are defined
About the candidate
At least five years’ experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in a large corporate environment.
Expert skills and considerable experience in customer-facing web applications.
Experience dealing with multiple stakeholders, including third party vendors.
Experience of implementing HCD and/or Design Thinking in their Business Analysis deliverables.
Experience of working closely with UX/CX specialists.
Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or similar technical fields
Proven experience in Business Analysis and Delivery within large organizations
They will have a proven track record:
Applying industry standard business analysis frameworks, methods, tools and techniques including;
Process modelling to BPMN standard
Business Analysis within Agile and Scrum methodologies
Human Centred Design (HCD) and/or Design Thinking e.g. Service Blueprints
Conceptual data modelling
As a highly effective communicator
Explain business and technical concepts in simple terms
Interview and facilitation skills
Apply elicitation skills to identify and understand stakeholders needs and concerns, and understand the environment in which they work
