Engagement Lead

  • Lead a team of engagement professionals to help build a better city
  • Be the lead community conduit for Western Sydney by keeping the ‘customer at heart’ in a best-in-class, customer centred, client organisation 

About the role 

Lead the West Region Community Engagement team to guide the delivery of a huge portfolio of projects. You will be leading engagement on once in a lifetime projects that will shape our city and ensure we have resilient and reliable water services for generations to come.

You will be part of a professional and fun team that will develop and manage the strategic community and stakeholder engagement plans for projects in planning and delivery. You will use your skills to protect and promote Sydney Water’s reputation, identify project specific issues and deliver strategic advice to deliver great outcomes for the pipeline of works in the Regional Delivery Program.

About you!

We are looking for a team leader with the proven ability to collaborate with others to achieve goals, provide coaching and develop their team. A strategic thinker with proven planning, influencing, negotiation and facilitation skills who also has highly developed written and verbal communication skills!

Knowledge: 

  • Degree qualifications in communications, stakeholder engagement, public policy, business, government relations or any related field, or extensive (10+ years) commensurate experience 
  • Business to business engagement experience 
  • IAP2 Certificate in Public Participation advantageous 

Experience: 

  • A minimum 10 years’ experience working as a senior communication leader, community engagement, stakeholder relations or corporate affairs advisor in a major corporation, government department or agency environment 
  • Strong business acumen with the capacity to liaise and work with senior management and other Communications and Government Relations team members to determine positions on public policy issues, both proactive and reactive 
  • Capable of leading and advising others in stakeholder engagement and or management 
  • Ability to build constructive and effective relationships to develop a deep understanding of business needs and objectives to tie communications work directly to desired business outcomes 
  • Demonstrated ability in design, delivery and implementation of proactive communication and engagement plans
