Provide process engineering technical support for major upgrade projects on our NW Water treatment hub – Riverstone, Rouse Hill and Castle Hill.

About the role:

This role will collaborate closely with Planners, the Major Projects Team, the Operational team at our Northwest Hub, and a range of external stakeholders to ensure optimal operational performance and Resource Recovery throughout the lifecycle of capital projects - from concept to handover.  You will provide high-level technical input during option analysis, the design phase, business case reviews (e.g., NABC, OABC, DABC), and commissioning. A major focus of the role will ensure strong adherence to safety in design principles.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are fit for purpose across all phases—planning, design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
  • Support capital and growth projects with technical input and ensure alignment with Sydney Water standards.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical and process issues, contribute to product quality and specification development, and drive standardization through technical manuals and process descriptions.
  • Provide input into research, development, and pilot trials of new technologies and instrumentation.
  • Ensure safety in design, construction, and commissioning, lead safety initiatives and investigations.
  • Implement new systems including instrumentation, control upgrades, and process modelling.

About you:

In addition to a degree or equivalent qualification in Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering you will also:

  • Have at least 8 years demonstrated experience in design, operation and optimisation of plant.
  • Water / wastewater industry knowledge and experience
  • Strong technical report writing and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated skills in technical report writing, data analysis
  • Stakeholder management skills in a team environment working across varying levels.
  • Detailed knowledge of product guidelines and quality management systems (Recycled Water, and Drinking Water, Wastewater and/or Resource Recovery)
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office application and ability to use customized software packages, experience with SCADA is advantageous
