About the role

Leading a portfolio of commercial projects and partnerships to develop, foster and grow the circular economy and smart city agenda within Western Sydney.

You will:

·       Build and contribute to the skills development of the team by mentoring and transferring strategic and technical knowledge and experience

·       Shape and influence the circular economy and smart city service offerings for Western Sydney so that Sydney Water can build market share and enhance brand and reputation and help bring to life the Parkland City Vision

·       Provide direction in situations with ambiguity, and understanding the balance of innovation, risks and exposure when representing Sydney Water to internal and external stakeholders

·       Socialise and contribute to the development of the Western Sydney policy and planning framework, to enable circular economy precincts to be successful

·       Proactively generate, explore and shape new commercial opportunities and setup new commercial Partnerships in such a way that maximises the potential value for Sydney Water and is aligned to strategic objectives

·       Manage the development, partnership valuation and financial modelling, negotiation strategy and delivery of large / complex commercial projects and Partnerships, commercialisation of new product lines (together with the Innovation & Product Development team) to maximise value and minimise risk for Sydney Water

·       Build upon the existing planning framework (focused on water and wastewater servicing) and lead in framing and adopting a circular economy approach that requires water planning to include cooling, water balance, outcomes and place based planning, to enable the vision for a liveable, productive and sustainable three cities and Illawarra region

·       Define the circular economy practices that are implementable in a practical, expedient, repeatable, scalable, consistent, transparent and commercially viable way to ensure agreeance with authorities and the development industry

·       Constructively challenge solutions and recommendations in consultation with internal and external stakeholders

·       Champion the adoption of industry wide tools and processes to enable management of waste and water and to promote liveability and integrated water cycle management

·       Present supported decisions and recommendations that stand up to external scrutiny

About you

Evangelist determined to make a difference. Appreciate managing a heavy workload with tight deadlines and prioritising multiply commitments. Confident and diplomatic obtaining buy in from all stakeholders.

You have:

·       Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Science or Water Resource Management

·       Significant demonstrable track record of success in program management or establishing commercial partnerships for large organisations or government

·       Expertise in technical, analytical problem definition and problem solving skills

·       Delivered new and or novel pilot projects on time and budget

·       Confident interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to both lead and work within project teams and deal with staff at all levels

·       Ability to lead joint projects with other partners or authorities to develop innovative solutions

·       Influencing and negotiating skills with the ability to build and maintain strong personal and corporate relationships and gain the support and confidence of stakeholders

·       Are able to adapt existing principles to new and unusual problems and driving changes in policy, that is robust in regard to maturing programs or technology is desirable
