Sydney Water is undertaking a 10-year infrastructure program to renew, expand & build infrastructure to support a more sustainable, resilient, and efficient water network for Sydney’s growing population. About the role:

The primary purpose of the role is to strategically manage interfaces between the Sydney Water project and third-party government agencies and utility/infrastructure asset managers excluding communities. The Interface Manager will be responsible for leading effective coordination and communication between the project and third parties where there are potential impacts to their assets or projects to promote technical, logistical, and contractual requirements are met on time and within the approved scope. The Interface Manager will play a critical role in mitigating risks, resolving conflicts, and ensuring the efficient flow of information to achieve project success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and manage strategic relationships with government agencies, contractors, and service providers to support project delivery
  • Identify, negotiate, and finalise interface agreements, and establish governance structures to manage third-party interfaces
  • Monitor third-party compliance with contractual obligations and safeguard project interests through risk-aware decision-making
  • Lead resolution of interface issues through coordinated internal consultation and escalation of complex matters
  • Promote collaboration across teams and projects, share lessons learned, and provide regular updates and strategic advice to leadership

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience
  • Extensive experience in commercial environments with strong commercial acumen
  • Proven track record in managing third-party interface agreements for major infrastructure projects
  • Deep understanding of government processes, legislation, and infrastructure project lifecycles
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills across complex external relationships
  • Advantageous to have experience and existing relationships with utility companies
