Join Sydney Water as a Senior Asset Maintenance Engineer in our ETS (Engineering and Technical Services) team. Help us to meet cost, risk and performance targets over the asset lifecycle: incorporating asset creation, maintenance and renewals for all assets within Sydney Water’s Water System. With a focus on planning, the role works in partnership with our strategic planning and investment teams, delivery partners and operations teams and very closely with the maintenance program and performance monitoring teams to ensure maintenance and renewal planning is optimised.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for contributing to the integrated TOTEX Investment and Works Plan (i.e. unconstrained view) that is required to deliver the asset performance expectations of the organisation. Identifying areas/assets of concern and bring these assets forward for consideration during renewal/replacement planning discussions.
  • Review and develop asset maintenance and renewal strategies. Ensure Asset and Maintenance strategies and asset plans are aligned with the strategies and standards developed by Strategic Asset Management and Performance and are effective.
  • Oversight of condition assessment of all assets within their scope, including monitoring for risks and issues. Including the review of asset condition and review of specialist asset condition assessments. 
  • Prepare business cases for seed funding for renewals.
  • Maintenance Engineering needs to be responsive to the requirements of the frontline operational team and requires a plant or site presence.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the ROMP to ensure operations, maintenance delivery, and maintenance engineering has a forum to raise issues and risks related to operational asset performance.
  • Raising risks and managing mitigations at the operational level, so that assets within their remit are prepared to operate within operational license limits.
  • Ensures all assets within their locus of control are appropriately identified and managed through SW’s Maximo Asset Management System or HIDRA.
  • Ensure criticality and spares assessments are completed to mitigate risk
  • Lead root cause analysis and problem solving for complex asset failures, and high cost/ frequent failure assets. 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering, science or a related discipline and/or proven experience in operations, maintenance/renewals or treatment/quality aspects of water &/or recycled water &/or wastewater &/or stormwater systems.
  • A comprehensive understanding of asset management or similar developed through industry experience with experience in related activities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, with the ability to synthesise and consolidate a large amount of information for clarity of objectives and outcomes.
  • Current Drivers licence
