About the role
The purpose of the position is to shape, refine and deliver the Customer Delivery business plan aligned to Sydney Water strategy. This role will also be responsible coordinating the strategic business plan development and ensuring alignment to the organisation strategy, budget, enterprise risk management, IPART submission and the Contribution and Development processes.
The position will work across multi-disciplinary teams within Customer Delivery and across the business to ensure the Customer Delivery strategic business plan is aligned. This role will ensure compliance with an enterprise approach to strategic planning, business planning and budgeting that enables the successful delivery of strategy, including quarterly planning activities.
Accountabilities and deliverables include but are not limited to;
- Lead the coordination of all business planning activities across Customer Delivery and provide the required support to develop insights and intelligence that will enable an understanding the of the operating environment, business requirements, external and future requirements that will impact the business plan.
- Determine resource and business process implications of Customer Delivery led initiatives or from Enterprise initiatives that impact Customer Delivery and reflect in business plans and resourcing heatmaps.
- Provide subject matter expertise and advice on strategic planning activities, risks, directions and actions that relate to the delivery of Customer Delivery goals and business outcomes in the short, medium and long term.
- Ensure all plans and activities consider customer, community and stakeholder insights and aspirations, regulatory obligations and balance costs, risks and opportunities.
- Influence the decision criteria impacting the medium-term and long-term strategic direction and support prioritisation and recommendations impacting the business plan to address emerging business risks relating to government policy and regulatory reforms.
- Support the development and co-ordinate the timely and effective completion of integrated business planning cycle including the annual planning and budgeting processes.
- Coordinate the alignment of business plans across Sydney Water with strategy, budgets, risk management, organisation contribution framework (Contribution and Development Plans) and. IPART submission.
- Support the review and development of KPI’s and strategic success measures linking to business plans and the strategy. Support business performance in delivering and developing performance reports.
- Contribute and ensure the business planning framework effectively integrates relevant product, asset and commercial planning across the group delivery plan to ensure alignment to strategy.
About you
- Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in strategic business planning within a large complex organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in a large utility or government agency, including an understanding of Sydney Water's commercial and regulatory framework
- Demonstrated experience in managing analytical processes and integrating outcomes into strategic and business planning
- Demonstrated experience in influencing staff and management on strategic and planning issues
- Demonstrated experience in building effective business relationships and effective, productive work teams
- Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and influencing senior management and business stakeholders on strategic issues to the benefit of the business and its customers
- Proven experience in successful collaboration in working across complex organisational structures and broad cultures
- Resilient and confident business professional with the ability to build strong working relationships across several levels of the organisation
- Strong business acumen, analytical and business partnering skills with experience in strategic and business planning to achieve commercial outcomes and business improvement
