About the role

The role is focussed on operational and commercial management of contract agreements in the Water Supply & Production business, and the broader Customer Delivery group. This role will deliver improvements, guiding Contract Officers and Production Hub Managers, with a strong operational risk and management focus, helping to shape new commercial opportunities across Sydney Water’s geographical footprint.

Initially you will be responsible for the management of chemical supplier agreements covering all operational network and treatment plant sites across Sydney Water.

This position is critical in maintaining risk performance both in the short term and long term. It directly impacts tactical objectives and long-term strategic objectives for water quality for assigned agreements. 

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Contract management of and performance management of chemical supplier agreements and other operational agreements as required
  • Supplier performance management including financial and non-KPIs, periodic performance appraisals, risk register management, and other issues management including liaising on environmental and safety incidents
  • Identifying improvements to drive savings, innovation, new product trials or accreditation
  • Pulling together the various needs for chemical supply across the business – setting priorities and strategies
  • Manage audit programmes for assigned agreements. This includes coordinating and conducting audits and site inspections as required for safety, environment, performance and quality parameters on a risk-based frequency. 
  • Management of annual purchase order activities including raising, amendment, or contingency
  • Manage variation requests including any commercial quotations including updates in ARIBA

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, science, commerce or law or other relevant qualification.
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex contract agreements in large organisations
  • Understanding of compliance, probity, and audit requirements and how they relate to commercial contracts.
  • Understanding of treatment/ operational processes, asset management and control systems.
  • Capability in conflict resolution.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to communicate at all organisational levels, with regulators and contractors.
