An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Property Portfolio Development Manager to join the Growth and Development team at Sydney Water.
Managing a team of up to 6 direct reports you will develop and align the Sydney Water property optimisation, leasing and divestment strategies, plan and budgets with Sydney Water’s strategic business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Leading and managing the development and implementation of a proactive commercial property portfolio development strategy which supports the organisation’s corporate objectives and fulfils Sydney Water’s legislative responsibilities.
- Leading and exploring innovative opportunities, developing strong partnerships with industry and government stakeholders to create positive partnerships which contribute to delivery of the portfolio strategy.
- Successfully leading development of robust portfolio governance frameworks and processes across the organisation to facilitate portfolio optimisation, assess and mitigate financial and operational risk, proactively identify new divestment and revenue generating opportunities which align with Sydney Water’s strategic business objectives.
- Working in partnership with key internal stakeholders to proactively identify emerging commercial property business risk in large, complex transactions and developing sound mitigation strategies.
- Providing leadership to a professional team responsible for developing and delivering successful divestment business programs, commercials optimisation projects, community sharing projects and generating revenue.
- Identifying opportunities for achieving successful commercial property outcomes while protecting and enhancing Sydney Water’s reputation as a community-minded citizen.

Experience and Qualifications:
- Degree qualification in business, commerce, property development, land economics or related discipline, or experience deemed equivalent.
- Appropriate property qualifications leading to Australian Property Institute Membership.
- 10+ years’ experience working in property with demonstratable experience in developing strategy, management of complex projects, stakeholder management and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Expert knowledge of town planning and structure planning, property development, financial and risk management and commercial negotiation.
- Demonstrated experience of strategic thinking on a whole of portfolio basis and developing innovative solutions to complex property problems, including high level analysis skills.
- Demonstrated experience preparing scope and business cases for more ambiguous or complex projects and work programs.
