About the role
The Principal Manager, Strategic Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (PMO) Lead is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, management, and operation of the Portfolio Management Office. This role involves aligning project goals with the organisation’s strategic objectives, managing a portfolio of projects, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects within scope, time, and budget. The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and effective communication skills.
As a Principal Manager, Strategic Enterprise PMO, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and implement the vision, strategy, and objectives of the Enterprise PMO in alignment with organisational goals.
- Develop and maintain project management standards, processes, and methodologies.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritise projects and allocate resources effectively.
Portfolio Management
- Oversee the management of a portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Monitor and report on project portfolio performance, providing insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Ensure proper risk management and mitigation strategies are in place for all projects.
Governance and Compliance
- Establish governance frameworks to ensure project adherence to standards, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement quality assurance practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality project outcomes.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers and PMO staff.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the team.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the PMO team.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives, department heads, and external partners.
- Act as a point of escalation for project issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage the PMO budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Monitor project budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation.

About you
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a PMO.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, complex projects and portfolios.
- Experience in strategic planning, governance, and risk management
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
