Senior Learning Specialist

  • Training Project Management with a strong focus on delivering effective learning solutions, managing relationships and engagements with Internal stakeholders and Program delivery
  • Work on complex learning programs with enterprise-wide impact, with stakeholders across all levels including Executives

About the role

The purpose of the Senior L&D Specialist role is to ensure that Sydney Water has relevant learning solutions in place to build the capability of our people to meet current and future business requirements. As an expert in learning, the Senior L&D specialist will work across the full learning life cycle, leading engagements with internal stakeholders through all stages. Other duties include but are not limited to;

  • Plan and execute Learning programs at enterprise and local business unit
  • Manage L&D program delivery across Sydney Water, Contractors and Partners:
  • design and/or manage the implementation of Sydney Water’s learning programs for Regional Delivery Consortiums (RDC’s), contractors and partners to manage risk and achieve program and organisational outcomes.
  • collaborate with key stakeholders within the RDC’s, to ensure that they remain compliant and up to date with all mandatory learning requirements.
  • Ensure that the Learning Needs Analysis (compliance training matrix by role) is maintained, updated, and enforced for all RDC employee learning programs.
  • Manage the relationship with Beakon(CMS) and Learnbook (Learning Management Systems); ensure that these systems are governed effectively and maintain accurate data
  • Provide guidance and support to People Leaders to develop capability and drive best practise development solutions to support a high performing culture
  • Design, source and/or curate and facilitate appropriate learning programs and interventions (70:20:10) to support the capability priorities of Sydney Water
  • Support the implementation and delivery of the People & Culture Strategy and Plan across the business

About you

You thrive in a fast-paced environment with many stakeholders.   You love learning, adapt quickly to change and work across multiple projects with ease. Managing and prioritising your time effectively and supporting others are second nature for you. 

  • An undergraduate qualification in Learning, Education or related field (eg Business Degree, Psychology) OR equivalent years of successful work experience in learning consultation, design or closely related field
  • Certificate IV in workplace training and assessment
  • The ability to demonstrate delivery of significant programs of work in a number of organisations preferably operational environments / settings 10 plus years, consulting, designing and developing online and/or blended learning solutions in response to various learning requirements
  • Demonstrated ability in implementing programs and learning solutions to support business needs.
  • Experience in leading change initiatives and innovation in HR / OD practices across complex and geographically dispersed organisations and playing a lead role in transformation efforts
  • Specific experience in designing engaging learning solutions and the ability to design impact evaluation
  • Demonstrated understanding of challenges involved in an operational/construction/utility/heavy industry environment with focus on safety and compliance learning requirements
  • Demonstrated experience as the senior engagement lead on complex, enterprise-wide learning requirements, leading through all stages of the learning life-cycle
