Sydney Water is seeking an Energy Advisor to join our Energy and Recovery Resources team.

A permanent opportunity based out of Potts Hill, you will support the Energy & Efficiency team in the management and operations of Sydney Water’s energy supply contracts to reduce customer bills and change the way we purchase energy.

Your day-to-day:

Contract Support: Assist in monitoring Sydney Water's energy supply contracts to enhance financial outcomes and reduce risk.

Program Development: Support the analysis and development of energy efficiency, demand management programs, and energy information systems.

Advisory Support: Conduct analysis and provide advice on energy management, including regulation and strategy, with guidance to improve business, customer, and environmental outcomes.

Compliance: Help manage quality, legislative requirements, and energy certifications, approvals, licenses, and permits with supervision.

Knowledge Building: Contribute to raising awareness and knowledge of energy management both internally and externally.

Stakeholder Relations: Support and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, addressing routine matters and building networks.


Essential Requirements: 

  • 3 years’ experience in the management of natural resources to inform service provision and infrastructure planning and delivery
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Natural Resource, Environmental Management, Energy Engineering, Resource Economics, Science or a related discipline
  • Sound knowledge of, and experience implementing resource management actions in the context of, principles, practices and functions of water / wastewater treatment and transport
  • Technical knowledge of, and experience in implementing, renewable energy generation technologies and energy conservation and greenhouse gas mitigation initiatives
