Who is Water Resource Recovery?
We are responsible for the operation and optimisation of Sydney Water’s 24/7 Water Resource Recovery Facilities (currently 29 facilities) to meet EPA Licence, customer and community outcomes in a safe and cost-effective manner. This includes the resource recovery of biosolids, energy via co-gen and hydro generation and management of residuals such as grit and screenings.
What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be able to make a real difference through this essential service to the community and the environment.
The workplace includes office and outdoor activities while working with a diverse group of employees. You will be offered formal and in-house training to skill you for the role.
You will be required to work across both Malabar and Cronulla WWTPs as part of this role. Malabar WWTP is Sydney’s largest Deep Ocean Outfall plant, and Cronulla is a complex tertiary wastewater treatment plant.
- Contribute to production availability in alignment with operational risk appetite, production and asset plans
- Operate the plant under routine conditions in alignment with Treatment and Sydney Water frameworks including health and safety requirements, quality and information management protocols, incident response and business continuity frameworks
- Monitoring of SCADA control systems, plant asset operational checks, sampling and laboratory work, interfacing with maintenance and project contractors.
- Contribute to successful completion of complex capital and operational projects
- Must be willing & flexible for hands on learning
- Work across both the Cronulla and Malabar hubs supporting production outcome
Who are we looking for?
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering/Science or trade qualification.
- Current valid driver’s license and own vehicle
- A ‘hands-on’ approach to problem solving and troubleshooting of process and equipment issues.
- Good people skills and experience in coordinating internal and external service providers to perform maintenance and project works.
- A personal drive for continuous improvement and to contribute to a positive team culture.
- The ability to commit to occasional overtime and working on a stand-by roster
- Exposure to quality management systems.
