About the role

Production Employees for Sydney Water Complex Maintenance and Construction unit covers the whole operational area of Sydney Water to provide the best 24/7 service and support.

This role will see you start and finish in the field supporting three main assets: Storm Water, Potable Water and Sewer. We are looking for production employees to provide maintenance repairs, operational duties and deliver the best customer service in performing your tasks.

  • Maintenance and repair of water and sewer mains, surface fittings including hydrants, valves, access chambers etc.
  • Undertake all hands-on aspects construction delivery, plant, transport and specialist field services including the excavation of trenches, laying pipes, restoration, plant operation, truck driving, steel fixing and carpentry using both mechanical and manual methods to complete designated projects.
  • Maintain good client relations and meet client needs as communicated in briefs, specifications, drawings and contract documents.
  • Be responsible for the safe operation of Sydney Water Corporation's equipment and assets under the employee's control
  • This role requires to work mostly day shift but you may be required to be called upon for program work, afternoon /night shift support, weekend work, continuous overtime and being available for emergency work as required.


About you

As a successful applicant you will ideally have experience in network maintenance and/or hold a current trade certificate. You will have the ability to work afternoon and night shift as well as available to travel to various Sydney Water sites as needed

To be considered for the role, you must have:

  • School Certificate or equivalent and current General Construction Induction card
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills via phone and face to face customer service allowing you to enter into discussions with other members of their team, and customers of Sydney Water
  • Demonstrate a level of literacy and numeracy such that they can read and interpret work instructions, material lists, job requests and accurately complete job information, quantities, and reports concerning work tasks completed in the field.
  • Knowledge of plumbing or civil maintenance on pipe network systems.
  • Relevant valid driver's licence required (Minimum MR) OR A WILLINGNESS TO ATTAIN WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF EMPLOYEMENT
  • Must have the physical ability to perform regular manual handling tasks on a daily basis (manual excavation, pushing/pulling loads etc.).
  • Ability to effectively participate in risk assessment activities and implement safe work practices to manage hazards.
  • Ability to use a mobile computer tablet and smartphone technologies
  • Availability to work a rotating roster
