About the Role
As a Senior Manager, you will take the lead in managing the team that deliver Sydney Water's Customer Water Efficiency Programs and solutions, alongside overseeing the water conservation field operations. This role is in the Customer Experience division and reports to the Head of Innovation and Customer Programs.
This pivotal senior manager role requires you to drive operational excellence while maintaining a strong focus on customer relationships, stakeholder management, and financial oversight. You will ensure all activities are executed within budget, on target, and in full alignment with governance and organisational priorities. A good understanding and experience in operational program delivery, a customer-centric mindset, and the ability to integrate these efforts into broader business objectives will be essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and Manage Water Efficiency Programs: Lead the successful delivery of all Customer Water Efficiency Programs, including WaterFix Residential, Commercial, Strata, Schools, PlumbAssist, Concealed Leaks.
Drive Innovation and Commercialisation: Lead the assessment and of trial new water conservation solutions, supporting their commercialisation and customer adoption to maximise impact.
Community Engagement & Water Restrictions: Design and manage communications, field team operations, and community engagement initiatives to ensure adherence to water restrictions and Water Wise Guidelines, including the administration of water theft-related fines.
Drought Readiness: Lead the field teams, planning and operations to be ready for drought conditions, ensuring swift and effective responses when needed.
Water Conservation Impact: Ensure all programs align with Sydney Water’s Water Conservation Plan and contribute to our broader sustainability targets, managing reporting and performance to meet stakeholder expectations.
Governance & Financial Management: Administer all program activities in line with budgets, targets, and governance requirements, overseeing suppliers and contractors to deliver results.
About You
You are an experienced leader with a proven track record of delivering customer programs or water conservation programs and managing multi-disciplinary teams. Your ability to balance strategic goals with day-to-day operations and financial oversight will be key to your success in this role. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are adept at managing stakeholders, guiding teams through change, and driving innovation in water conservation solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- A degree qualification in engineering, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership/senior manager role, including managing cross-functional teams and developing a high-performing team culture.
- Extensive experience in business management, policy development, and governance, with a strong ability to navigate complex commercial decision-making and business cases.
- Strong knowledge of water conservation practices is desirable, as well as knowledge of emerging technologies, customer service, innovation and sustainability trends.
- Exceptional influencing, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders across a diverse range of areas.
