An exciting permanent opportunity to join the Systems Planning and Land Acquisition team. 

Responsible for the development of forward thinking, multi-driver responsive, customer focussed, integrated urban water servicing plans, driving the direction for water and wastewater assets that ultimately are converted into projects to achieve safe and sustainable water supply servicing and waterway outcomes. 

In a time where the direction and value of water is critical for Sydney, the Illawarra and the Blue Mountains and with the roll out of Sydney Water’s Long-Term Capital and Operating Plan (LTCOP) this role is critical in the shaping of these outcomes and understanding how we use water and manage wastewater across the city. This role sits within the Treatment Planning Team within Systems Planning and Land Acquisition. The treatment planning team encompasses treatment outcomes and planning for carbon zero initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, create and deliver high impact planning from master planning and regional plans to options studies and implementation plans as they relate to treatment assets.
  • Development of customer servicing solutions to align with integrated water cycle management organisational objectives including planning of water, wastewater and recycled water treatment assets.
  • Work with people from across Sydney Water, its partners and the broader industry to realise outcomes in both water and wastewater treatment.
  • Apply innovative initiatives and contribute to the improvement of quality and efficiency of planning activities.
  • Undertake the development of activities that support planning including preparing guidelines, tenders and business cases
  • Engage throughout the entire asset life cycle to ensure the best outcomes for the creation of new assets and integration with existing servicing solutions to ensure sustainable servicing for Sydney Water’s customers.
  • Perform risk analysis activities and develop management interventions.
  • Contribute to Sydney Water achieving its carbon zero targets.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Planning, Science or a related discipline
  • Several years of demonstrated experience and skills in the development and management of integrated approaches to urban water service and infrastructure planning
  • Knowledge and experience of aspects of urban water infrastructure planning and integrated water cycle management
  • Demonstrated experience in written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills both internal and external to the organisation.
  • Understanding of Strategic Asset Management concepts and evolving infrastructure planning techniques
