About the role
The laboratory specialises in analysing treated and environmental water samples, for algae, chlorophylls and phytoxigene. We are one of the largest laboratories in Australia with this capability due to modern equipment, fully trained staff, assistance from experts in the field and reference material.
This is a senior role, assisting the supervisor and the team meet customer and quality requirements in the Phycology team as part of Sydney Waters Laboratory Services.
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of LIMS (e.g. authorisation/acceptance of results, traceability of samples and ad hoc requests), scheduling tools and/or BMIS (e.g. document management, action request and auditing).
- Respond to client concerns in an accurate and timely manner and ensure client satisfaction and demonstrated ability to define and manage delivery against operational workplans
- Ability to work efficiently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail whilst managing competing demands.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance to all quality system requirements (ISO 17025, 9001, 55001)
- Management of external laboratory suppliers including evaluation, obtaining quotes, analysis requests
- Demonstrated experience in SAP including PO creation, receipting and management,
- Maintain a safe and equitable work environment
- Willing to work outside core hours to meet contractual obligations
- Demonstrated ability to oversee a small group of staff if/when required
About you
This role will ideally suit a team member with a biology background and recent experience in laboratory practices. You’re comfortable working in a team setting, with an eagerness to learn and develop, and you understand safety is a priority in a busy lab environment.
- Relevant degree and/or equivalent industry experience in science, procurement, or project management preferably within a laboratory/science environment
- Demonstrated ability to successfully oversee and support the team in business continuity plans, health & safety initiatives, procurement plans, training plans and staff development
- Experience in analysing water samples for algae, chlorophylls and phytoxigene. Demonstrated ability to perform method development and validation, as well as to operate and problem solve a range of laboratory instrumentation
- Demonstrated experience in ISO 9001, 45001, 55001, 17025 certified facilities
