About the role

The Safety Advisor is responsible for the delivery of safety support to Sydney Water businesses. This includes providing expert advice and support in delivering specific business unit strategic objectives, plans, management systems objectives, mitigation of safety risks and hazards, the prevention of workplace injuries, the prevention of incidents and occurrences, regulatory compliance and the promotion of a safe culture.

Working with the teams on their safety and wellbeing management activities and initiatives. Lead assurance activities, ICAM investigations and high-level investigations. Working with the teams to improve their management of high risk work and critical controls. Provide safety reporting and undertake data analytics giving insights to better safety performance opportunities and confirming good condition.

You will assist in maturing safety culture within the organisation as well as working with external stakeholders where they will be able to think outside of the traditional safety box driving interpersonal, negotiation, presentation and communication skills.

About you

As a Safety Advisor, you will demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment and foster networking between various areas, departments and external stakeholders as well as highly developed level of self-awareness & self-management. You are self driven and can working with both autonomy and close working relationships. It is important that you have:

  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety or Diploma of Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Certificate in ICAM investigations
  • Experience in the implementation of WHS Management Systems.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s licence as travel between sites will be required
