What’s the role?
The role of the Environmental Programs Team Lead is to manage a team of highly skilled & experienced environmental professionals to deliver advice & support a range of reactive and planned activities in Customer Delivery and ensure compliance with our environmental accountabilities, including:
- Specialised Environmental Response
- Environmental planning & related approvals, licences & permits
- Manage a range of internal & external stakeholders
- Lead operational/tactical interface forums with external stakeholders such as NPWS and DPE
- Environmental compliance reporting
- Design & implementation of 1LoA environmental assurance programs
- Responding to urgent requests
This high-pressure role supports the operationalisation of Sydney Water’s EMS, leading environmental management and environmental risk management for the Group, including providing high level advice to Heads of Business and the General Manager Customer Delivery.

Who are we looking for?
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Environmental Management,
- 10 to 15 years’ demonstrated experience in the identification and implementation of environmental strategies, actions, environmental planning, environmental impact assessment, environmental audits and environmental approvals
- Qualifications in implementing ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems
- A comprehensive understanding of Sydney Water’s asset management systems, incident response processes and regulatory environment is highly desirable.’
