Sydney Water is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Commercial Manager to lead the execution of complex commercial projects and strategic initiatives. The role would enable the business to manage the increasing complexities and risks of the business brought by Greater Sydney Water Strategy and Sydney Water’s Long-Term Capital and Operational Plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute Sydney Water’s commercial strategy in response to the growing demand from data centres.
  • Develop innovative commercial structures and pricing in light of the regulatory environment that support sector growth whilst ensuring existing customers are protected from the emerging high-demand sectors.
  • Position Sydney Water as the strategic water infrastructure partner for the multi- billion data centre pipeline, safeguarding water security and service standards.
  • Work closely with Growth, Strategy, Planning and Regulatory teams to design pricing models and service differentiation strategies that reflect the true cost of servicing high-demand customers.
  • Represent Sydney Water in shaping government policy on data centre strategy, cost recovery mechanisms, and infrastructure planning.
  • Lead high-level negotiations with major data centre developers.
  • Represent Sydney Water’s commercial interests in strategic discussions with the Investment Delivery Authority, Infrastructure NSW, and planning bodies.
  • Engage with major developers to ensure commercial interests are aligned with infrastructure capacity and sustainability objectives.

About You

  • You are a strategic leader with strong commercial and structuring skills and a passion for infrastructure innovation.
  • Extensive experience in commercial leadership, ideally within utilities, infrastructure, or high-demand sectors.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills at senior levels.
  • A proven ability to influence policy and deliver commercial outcomes in complex environments.

Essential Requirements: 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of submitting your application to be considered for this role.

  • Flexibility to travel across Sydney Water sites as required.
