About the role

The Workforce Analyst role sits in the Workforce Planning and Insights team, within the People and Culture Group at Sydney Water. We are responsible for facilitating delivery of both the strategic workforce plan and workforce planning capability within Sydney Water, workforce analytics and insights for business leaders and executive groups, and managing all systems that support the People and Culture business function. The purpose of this role is to provide workforce analytics solutions that demonstrate performance of key people success measures, and provide insights that will inform people strategies and initiatives.

Role responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports on our workforce for executive and management teams that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data
  • Identify trends and investigate root causes for performance of workforce metrics and compile reports that communicate points of intervention
  • Work with People Partners, Safety Partners, Business Connect Team and P&C Centres of Excellence to outline their specific data requirements and build reporting solutions to meet their needs
  • Work with Aurion team (system) and Business Connect (reporting COE) to maintain data standards and quality within our systems
  • Design and maintain data systems and databases including fixing errors and other data-related problems
  • Work with Business Connect (reporting COE) to develop and deploy PowerBI dashboards to user groups per their requirements (design and iterate)
  • Work with People Services to maintain current process knowledge and how the data in our systems influences or is impacted by process
  • Create and iterate reports that communicate our current workforce plan 

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, Certificate IV or equivalent experience, in the areas of IT, Analytics, or Finance
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advanced data analytics and database skills (Power BI / Excel environment)
  • Ability to analyse large datasets, ie, mining data from primary and secondary sources
  • Experience in workforce analytics (desirable)
  • Workforce planning analytics (desirable)
  • Storytelling with data visualisation skills
