We are seeking an experienced Senior Contract Officer to lead and optimize the management of critical operational contracts, including chemical contracts and major water operations and supply agreements.

This role requires a balance of operational, commercial, safety, environmental, and regulatory considerations to ensure the highest outcomes for Sydney Water.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support up to 30 indirect reports, fostering a culture of safety, wellness, and high performance.
  • Champion safety and regulatory compliance across operational contracts.
  • Oversee commercial and operational management of bulk chemicals and other major agreements.
  • Monitor supplier compliance, manage performance against KPIs, and handle periodic price reviews.
  • Contribute to procurement strategy, contract negotiations, and financial analysis.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective contract management and compliance.

Essential Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, science, commerce or law.
  • Understanding of compliance, probity and audit requirements and how they relate to commercial contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, able to communicate at all organisational levels, with regulators and contractors.
  • Experience in formulating and implementing new contracts especially with respect to performance management
  • Minimum1 years’ experience in contract management
