  • Full time permanent role based from Potts Hill with flexible working available
  • EA 14 (38 hours) - $148,386.40 + super + range other fantastic Sydney Water benefits.

This hands on and exciting role will manage supplier contracts across a diverse range of facilities.  Although broad in scope, the role will have a focus on contracts involving biosolids and related environmental/regulatory aspects. Based at Potts Hill the role will require some flexibility and travel to a range of sites across Sydney, and the Illawarra (including quarterly field audit trips to Central Western NSW).

About the role:

This role plays a key part in making sure Sydney Water achieves operational, commercial, safety, environmental, and regulatory outcomes from its major contracts. These include agreements for water resource recovery facilities and plant operations. The role also manages residuals for example biosolids and waste products from treatment plants. You’ll take the lead in overseeing these contracts, with a strong focus on environmental, safety, operational risks, and effective contract and financial management.

What you will be doing: 

  • Operational management of the relationships between Sydney Water operations team, our suppliers and contractors, and internal stakeholders such as safety, environmental, planning and regulatory teams, informing strategic and operational decision making with respect to these contracts, Contract management and administration of the assigned contract including incident management, budget management, data analytics and regular reporting
  • Good understanding of the safety aspect related to transport of biosolids and waste product, including HVNL regulations and Chain of Responsibility including incident management and
  • Good understanding of the EPA biosolid guidelines and EPA Waste Classification guidelines and relevant regulations, including any relevant changes
  • Good working knowledge or ability to quickly develop regulatory reporting requirement for biosolid and waste
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee critical contracts to balance operational, commercial, and regulatory needs; lead commercial analysis within regulatory and operational frameworks; manage contracts in alignment with Sydney Water’s governance; and demonstrate ethical leadership in navigating competing priorities
  • Support the development of procurement strategies for Water Resource Recovery contracts, ensuring commercial, operational, probity, and risk objectives
  • Lead tender preparation and evaluation, including scope, KPI and pricing model development, provide technical assistance in contract creation and negotiation for effective organisational outcomes

Your Experience and Qualifications:

In addition to relevant tertiary qualifications or experience deemed equivalent, and a drivers licence, you will have strong relationship-building skills and be an effective collaborator

  • Relevant experience in the water industry or similar and conflict resolution, ideally with a focus on environmental contracts
  • Demonstrated knowledge of related aspect of waste including classification
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication across all levels
  •  Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to present complex data clearly – experienced in the use of MS Excel and Power BI would be beneficial
  • Demonstrated initiative in work management and process improvements.
