About the role

Network Field Support Officer supports the Operations Field Technician in Level 1 Environmental Improvement Program (EIP) maintenance hole inspections and installation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices across the wastewater network.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Complete level 1 Field inspections by use of CCTV equipment under instruction and supervision of the Operations Technician
  • Install IOT devises to specifications laid out by the Operations Technician
  • Interchange between the field and IOT stagging (Office/Store) when needed to build IOT devices before deployment
  • Perform and manage field activities and operations according to the relevant Sydney Water Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements. Individual responsibilities will vary with the work performed and its potential impact on the environment.
  • Maintain good client relations and meet client needs as communicated in briefs, specifications, drawings and documents.
  • Manage field activities to comply with environmental, legal and other requirements and seek further information or advice when required.
  • Role does not come with a Sydney Water vehicle


About you

As a successful applicant you will be reliable and well-spoken to communicate effectively with your team and stakeholders, ideally you will have exposure to the utilities industry or civil construction /field maintenance background.

To be considered for the role, you must have:

  • School Certificate or equivalent
  • Current General Construction Induction card (NSW White Card)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills via phone and face to face customer service allowing you to enter into discussions with other members of the team, and customers of Sydney Water
  • Demonstrate a level of literacy and numeracy such that they can read and interpret work instructions, material lists, job requests and accurately complete job information, quantities, and reports concerning work tasks completed in the field.
  • Must have the ability to achieve accreditation to work in confined spaces. Required to maintain weight below 130kgs in order to use confined spaces equipment.
  • Must have the physical ability to perform regular manual handling tasks on a daily basis (manual excavation, pushing/pulling loads etc.).
  • Capable of working outdoors in exposed and unfavourable (hot, cold, wet, windy) weather conditions.
  • Ability to effectively participate in field risk assessment activities and implement safe work practices to manage hazards
  • Must be able to frequently work in and around live wastewater product  
  • Sound computer skills
