About the role

This is a great opportunity for an API Azure product SME to join Sydney Water as the organisation commences its Digital Transformation journey. This role is integral in steering Sydney Water towards cloud integration. The focus of the role solution design and development in the integration space. This is your chance to drive the establishment of Sydney Water’s data centres on the Cloud!

You will:

  • Translate business needs into technical requirements as required while collaborating with business and all Digital teams to ensure customer focused delivery.
  • Architect solution designs (also referred to as Solution Architecture) within the Sydney Water’s architectural principles, policies, and guidelines ensuring they are secure, reliable and sustainable. This is done in collaboration with Integration Architects (Solution and Enterprise) and Integration Delivery Lead.
  • Develop digital solutions/components in compliance with agreed solution designs.
  • Produce technology documentation in compliance with software development methodologies leveraging Sydney Water defined templates.
  • Facilitate modifications to the technology documentation templates to incorporate emerging technology and architectural changes into software development methodologies leveraging Sydney Water defined templates.
  • Propose and participate in defining new architectural principles to ensure overall capability continues to remain relevant and platform capabilities are augmented to support business demands through emerging technology trends.

About you

An integration specialist, you are a Subject Matter Expert (SME) of a specific integration product (Tibco SOA Suite, API Management (AZURE / AXWAY), Cloud Integration, Axway Management File Transfer and Tibco Business Process Automation/Management), and are keen to be cross-skilled to complement other product SMEs. 

You will have prior experience in Cloud integration roles and be comfortable leading a large organisation on a digital transformation journey. You have the ability to communicate with and influence key internal and external business stakeholders. You can translate business needs into technical requirements and collaborate with technical teams to ensure all business requirements are met. Representing the Digital Integration team, you maintain high levels of interactions with business and project representatives on tasks at hand.

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or similar, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Information Technology
  • Minimum 10 years’ of demonstrated experience in enterprise application integration, SOA/BPM, API Management.
  • Minimum 7 years’ of demonstrated experience in Solution Design
  • Experience with core integration technologies, e.g. Tibco suite, Axway API, AZURE APIM and MFT
  • Experience in developing cloud native integration using Azure APIM, Service Bus & Event Grid
  • Experience in developing DevOps pipelines and associated DevOps frameworks
  • Experienced in presenting and leading solution design discussions at Enterprise, divisional and project forums
  • Prior hands-on cloud integration project implementation experience
  • Prior experience leading and defining Cloud Integration, microservices and container architectures on strategic projects
  • Proficiency in XML transformation languages
  • Expertise in one of the following products/technologies, and a willingness to upskill /cross-skill in others listed:
  • Microsoft Azure API Management, Service Bus & Event Grid
  • Axway API Gateway and Axway MFT
  • Rancher, Docker, Kubernetes and Azure Container Service
  • Cloud Integration, Microservices and container architectures
  • TIBCO SOA Suite
  • Integration architectures and patterns, information modelling and security architectures
