About the role
As the Production Manager for Blue Mountains Water Resource Recovery Hub (WRR) you will be responsible for the day to day safe and reliable operation of our assets to meet environmental protection licences and product standards. Your sites include WRR Facilities at Penrith, Richmond, North Richmond and Winmalee. This role will lead a geographically dispersed production team, provide coaching, create a constructive workplace to be proud of and drive improvement.
The Blue Mountains WRR Hub is undergoing significant upgrades on several fronts, and you will be involved in the planning and implementation of these projects and influence all aspects of the asset life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Development Lead and coach the team to boost performance, support growth, learning and align with Sydney Water’s values in a constructive work culture.
- Safety & Compliance Ensure safety and environmental compliance, empowering teams to proactively manage production risks and follow regulations.
- Customer Experience & Product Quality Oversee operations to meet product standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations efficiently.
- Operational & Financial Management Manage budgets, resources, and risks to deliver cost-effective outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
- Asset & Process Management Lead wastewater and resource recovery operations, ensuring compliance, asset performance, and stakeholder collaboration.
About you:
We are looking for an experienced leader of operational teams in production environments. In addition to tertiary qualifications in science or engineering (or equivalent experience) and a driver’s licence, you will also have:
- Highly developed leadership and facilitation skills and demonstrated ability to build a high performing team
- Demonstrated capability and commitment to improving safety performance
- Ability to influence stakeholders across varying levels and communicate requirements effectively
- Demonstrated business planning skills and ability to provide effective operational input into strategic and tactical asset planning, maintenance and renewal and asset creation
- Minimum of 7 years experience in operations role (water/wastewater and/or resource recovery is highly advantageous but other operations/production industries are strongly encouraged to apply)
- Minimum of 5 years experience in leadership role
- Exposure to quality management systems (ISO 9000, 14000, 4801)
