Our Finance and Business Performance group is creating capability within the team and across the wider organisation to build an organisational approach to project accounting including shaping policies, methodologies and governance requirements and aligning organisational stakeholders to drive optimised business outcomes.

 

About the role

Reporting to a Senior Project Accountant, you will contribute to the development of an organisational approach to the financial management of projects, programs and portfolios by delivering robust project reporting and accounting. The focus is to achieve by ensuring the integrity of project financial data that facilitates informed investment decision making and management of benefits realisation.

 Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare information and analysis for projects, programs and portfolios to ensure compliance with agreed ways of working across project accounting reporting, governance and risk management activities.
  • Collate capex data for external reporting purposes, including Annual Information Returns, Special
  • Information Return, WSAA benchmarking, National Water Initiative/NPR benchmarking, ABS survey and IPART reviews
  • Perform Capital Reporting Data Maintenance (S4HANA, EPPM, CATS)
  • Supporting Senior Project Accountants in advising Business Units, Project Managers etc. to enable them to improve their understanding of organisational methodologies; effectively manage their project, program and portfolio budgets and evaluate the commerciality of their decisions and plans
  • Assisting with internal and external audit requirements including supporting reviews of project accounting financial, governance controls and post implementation project reviews.
  • Support the development of the enterprise annual + 5 year capital investment program (CIP) and 20-30 year long-term forecast

 

 About You:

As a successful applicant, you will have 4+ years’ experience working in the finance sector, demonstrating your technical and analytical skillset, with strong communication skills to produce clear, concise and effective reporting.

  • Relevant degree qualification (e.g. Economics, Business, Accounting) or experience deemed equivalent
  • Professional Accounting Qualification (CA/CPA) desirable (or studying towards)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project accounting policies, project appraisal, project planning & budgeting, and financial reporting requirements, with 3-5 years’ experience working in a finance, commerce or business role
