About the Role

 As SCADA Team Leader, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for the planning, innovation, and delivery of Automation Technology across Sydney Water’s treatment plants. This is a strategic leadership role where you’ll drive the development of SCADA standards, design, and critical operational technology to enhance functionality, efficiency, and customer outcomes.

 Key Responsibilities

  •  Ownership of SCADA Standards – ongoing updates and improvements as prioritised with the business
  • Lead SCADA Innovation – create and maintain technology roadmap in consultation with internal partners to address the evolving business needs and align with greater Sydney Water strategy
  • Provide expert SCADA guidance and support across the organisation.
  • Oversee SCADA services supporting external partners on major upgrades and renewals.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement in SCADA systems and services.
  • Develop and implement strategy, standards, and design for operational technology across treatment plants.
  • Lead the delivery of special SCADA projects for critical infrastructure including water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide SCADA services according to main KPIs in support of external partners: availability; performance, security and functional suitability

 About You

 You’re a strategic thinker and technical expert with a passion for operational technology. You bring:

  • Degree qualified in electrical engineering, computer science or similar and/or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven experience building and leading SCADA teams in complex infrastructure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA systems, industrial control systems, and operational technology standards.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated successful working experience in people leadership in an industrial control environment with demonstrated team culture improvement results.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in managing individual projects and business planning
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of strategies and program plans for cross functional business programs/projects.
  • Working knowledge and experience in managing Cyber Security implementation in a critical infrastructure environment.
  •  The position has been designated as a Critical Worker role under the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (SOCI Act). As such, the successful candidate must hold a current AusCheck background check clearance prior to appointment.
