  • Provide cost effective, quality service that meets key performance indicators and financial accountabilities. 


What’s the role and Who are we looking for?

This role will see you reporting directly to the Head of Laboratory Services, your team mixture of 1-2 Supervisors and up to 25 Water Quality Analysts and you will be required you to plan, coordinate, lead and manage human, financial and consumable resources of our Microbiology laboratory ensuring laboratory compliance to ISO 9001 certification and ISO 17025 accreditation.

  • Manage resources, budget, assets, projects and staffing to maximise achievement of utilisation and budget targets whilst ensuring the required levels of staff skills and performance are maintained.
  • Manage human resources. Responsible for selection and for initiating removal of staff. Accountable for staff meeting production targets. Identify and develop staff who have talent. Match working ability to level of work across the laboratory.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to senior management on technical, policy and operational matters including the impact of changes in legislation, regulation and policy on the organisation and its stakeholders.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with clients to better understand future client needs and to plan for future product development to achieve the most appropriate and desirable outcomes for Laboratory Services.
  • Ensure all management responsibilities for WHS are met and demonstrate a commitment to improving on safety performance.

 

We are seeking a team member with at least 10 years’ experience in laboratory operations and are open to candidates who may not currently be managing a team but have a passion to develop, lead and nurture the growth of our not only our people but our laboratory.

  • Experience in staff and resource management in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
  • Specific theoretical and technical experience related to water and wastewater products.
  • Extensive demonstrated human resource management communication, negotiation and conflict resolution experiences.
  • Well-developed communication skills (oral and written) including a demonstrated capacity to prepare reports for review by senior management.
  • Experience using a Laboratory Information Management Software to produce management reports.
  • Experience in laboratory analysis costing and laboratory cost drivers.
  • Experience in laboratory quality assurance and quality control requirements for analytical procedures.
