About the role:

This position provides strategic oversight and assurance across major projects, focusing on the commissioning of new, refurbished, and repurposed assets. You’ll work closely with delivery partners, operational teams, and acceptance groups to ensure readiness for testing and commissioning activities across both greenfield and brownfield sites. Key responsibilities include planning, consultation, documentation, and driving operational readiness. Additionally, you’ll contribute expert advice and input into developing testing, commissioning, process proving, and control requirements into the Scope of Works

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define commissioning strategies, work packaging, sequencing, and risk management to ensure alignment with project scope and operational readiness.
  • Review SCADA/CONTROL integration, design deliverables, commissioning documentation, and operational plans to meet Sydney Water standards and enable seamless asset transition.
  • Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to develop and validate commissioning plans, monitor progress, manage defects, and facilitate risk workshops for safe and efficient implementation.
  • Support project governance by reviewing claims, schedules, and compensation events, ensuring compliance with delivery systems, regulatory requirements, and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate process proving, asset reliability assessments, and training programs to achieve successful handover and realization of project benefits.

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring:


  • A relevant qualification in process engineering, automation, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in commissioning water and wastewater facilities, including developing commissioning plans, ITPs, and managing cutover and startup activities.
  • Strong technical knowledge of treatment processes, SCADA/control systems, and statutory requirements for chemical handling and hazardous areas.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, influence decision-making, and manage risks across complex projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, sound understanding of contracts and quality management systems, and the ability to work autonomously in a dynamic environment.
