Enable Great Leadership | Drive Service Excellence | Advance Workforce Capability

At Sydney Water, we’re shaping the future of work by delivering innovative, people-focused solutions. We’re seeking an experienced Principal Manager, Technology and Capabilities to lead the efficient and effective delivery of HR services across Sydney Water, building the systems, capabilities, and experiences that empower our people to thrive.

In this critical leadership role, you will lead our Leader Advisory Hub, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, and HR Systems teams. Together, these functions underpin our ability to attract, engage, and grow our people while ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient service delivery. You’ll be responsible for ensuring we deliver high-quality advice to People Leaders, modern recruitment and onboarding experiences, capability growth programs, and robust HR systems that enable strategic decision-making.

You’ll also lead the evolution of our HR systems landscape, including extensive use of Dayforce and ServiceNow. Drawing on deep HRIS and data expertise, you will ensure Sydney Water’s systems are stable, compliant, and continuously optimised to support business scale, insights, and automation.

A key focus of this role is to build and mature a strategic HR capability pillar, integrating diverse functional teams and bringing together sectors to create a cohesive, high-impact service model. As a leader, you will foster a performance-oriented, inclusive team culture and model collaboration across the People & Governance Group. You will inspire excellence, enabling your teams to deliver reliable, responsive, and value-driven services that support Sydney Water’s workforce and strategic goals.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Significant leadership experience managing HR operations, shared services, or people technology functions in large or complex organisations.
  • Proven success leading multidisciplinary teams across HR service delivery, recruitment, learning and development, and systems management.
  • Strong experience managing HRIS systems and HR data, with demonstrated proficiency in Dayforce and ServiceNow.
  • Demonstrated experience in bringing together diverse teams and disciplines, into a unified function that delivers measurable outcomes.
  • Commercially astute decision-maker with experience in budget management, vendor performance, and process optimisation.
  • Proven ability to use data insights to inform strategy, monitor service levels, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Technology, or Business (or equivalent experience).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is desirable.

This is your opportunity to enhance Sydney Water’s core HR foundation, driving innovation through technology, capability, and service excellence to support our people today and into the future.

This role is internally titled Principal Manager Technology and Capabilities, as outlined in the job profile.
