About the role
Reporting to the Manager of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office at Sydney Water, you will be responsible for driving decision making that contributes to the achievement of Sydney Water’s strategy through the effective delivery of regular reporting and insights of the portfolio and supporting Portfolio Governance forums.
Contribute to developing, establishing and managing the framework for deriving and utilising portfolio level insights including processes and standards to ensure that it is aligned to the other corporate analytics and insights processes.
Your key accountabilities will include and are not limited to the following:
- Deliver the monthly consolidated portfolio reporting/dashboards and insights to drive decision making for Executive and/or Board consumption, ensuring quality, accuracy and timeliness (highlighting achievements, key milestones, dependencies, financials (costs and benefits) key issues and risks).
- Gather inputs and produce portfolio level reports and packs in support of the Portfolio Governance forums to enable an effective reporting and governance operating rhythm.
- Present portfolio and program level insights in a way that can be understood and implemented, ensuring ownership and enabling effective decision making by executives, program sponsors and business leads across Sydney Water.
- Make portfolio level recommendations and/or interventions through trend analysis and predictive analysis of portfolio/program/project risks and where to ‘focus in’ on.
- Collaborate with Finance and Portfolios to deliver reporting and set standards for reporting for portfolio, program and project reporting
- Collaborate with stakeholders (such as Portfolio’s, Finance, Change Management, Risk) and perform analysis across data sources to monitor and derive portfolio level insights. The insights are focused on strategic and business issues, interdependencies, risks, constraints, opportunities, capacity, financial exposure and benefits.
About you
This role will require a team member with hands on analytics and portfolio management experience to help analyse and synthesise complex data sets and derive valuable portfolio and business insights.
The successful candidate will have strong financial acumen, experience with portfolio / project management tools, SAP knowledge will be advantageous.
To be successful for this position you will have:
- Minimum degree qualification in Business or professional discipline, ideally with post graduate qualifications.
- Additional relevant tertiary qualifications highly desirable e.g., Portfolio, Program or Project Management qualifications.
- Certification in relevant toolsets highly desirable. (Portfolio Management, Visualisation tools)
- Substantial experience in a portfolio management environment, with at least 5 years’ experience analysing program performance.
- Strong experience in Project Management and PMO methodology, services and industry best practices.
- Sound understanding of Governance principles and previous experience in a Secretariat role.
- Strong background in performance reporting, analytics and insights.
- Experience in using and/or developing Microsoft Project Online, SharePoint and Power BI.
