About the role
The Lead Mechanical & Electrical Estimator role will lead and manage the mechanical and electrical estimating team. This role will be responsible for ensuring projects electrical estimates are assessed to ensure proper governance and best pricing practice. Ensure consistency, accuracy and efficiency in electrical estimating across all regions. Provide guidance to the electrical estimators as well as the regional quantity surveyors and cost estimators on electrical pricing.
The role includes but is not limited to;
- Accountability to the Estimating Manager, with responsibility as key part of the leadership team in the estimating function
- Producing and reviewing electrical estimates across the Regions, Major Project, Planning, and City Growth and Development
- Advising project managers and the wider project team on electrical costs
- Analysing and benchmarking electrical engineering costs on a program-wide basis
- Identifying potential efficiencies in design and value engineering
- Recommending costings to procurement and Sydney Water stakeholders
- Assisting in formulating and finalising project budgets
- Liaising with key stakeholders to ensure electrical estimates are aligned
- Participating in regional management meetings and provide input in terms of projects performance, area for improvement and key issues
- Providing input to estimating reports with recommendation for improvements
About you
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical / Engineering or related field
- Project Management qualifications / certificates (preferred)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical engineering
- Previous experience as an electrical estimator is essential
- Proven ability to accurately price electrical works is essential
- Experience of electrical estimating in the water services industry is essential
- Knowledge of mechanical estimating desirable
- Familiarity of working with NEC4 suite of contracts is desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction / operational projects
- Knowledge of relevant water procedures and standard work practices including safety and quality
- Effective oral and written communication skills at all levels with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to lead and mentor small team and support the individual development of assigned staff
- Customer focus and excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated organisational and problem solving skills
