About the Role
Sydney Water is seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to drive the execution of high-impact commercial projects and partnerships across the organisation. You will play a key role in identifying and delivering value through partnerships, new product commercialisation, and business case development. By working closely with innovation teams, legal experts, and key stakeholders, you will help Sydney Water optimise commercial opportunities while managing risks effectively.
This role will join the Commercial and Corporate Development Team which sits within the Finance business unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Project Execution: Lead the delivery of commercial projects and partnerships, including valuation, financial modelling, and managing the due diligence process.
- New Product Commercialisation: Collaborate with the Innovation and Product teams to commercialise new product lines and maximise their value.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and facilitate opportunities to improve commercial outcomes and drive value for Sydney Water.
- Strategy Development: Work with relevant experts to develop and assess strategy options, providing recommendations for decision-making.
- Business Case Development: Develop robust business cases that consider both short-term and long-term implications, ensuring risk minimisation and value maximisation.
- Financial Modelling: Create clear and structured financial models to assess complex commercial propositions, including regulatory, tax, and business case considerations.
- Negotiation Support: Act as a key member of the negotiation team, providing commercial insight and support to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Contract Development: Work with the legal team and stakeholders to develop term sheets and contracts that protect Sydney Water’s interests.
Key Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a commercial leadership role, managing complex projects and partnerships.
- Strong expertise in financial modelling, due diligence processes, and business case development.
- Excellent understanding of commercialisation strategies, risk management, and value optimisation.
- Ability to develop and negotiate commercial terms, with a focus on delivering win-win outcomes.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across different teams, including legal, financial, and innovation.
- Experience in contract negotiation and drafting, with a keen understanding of regulatory and tax implications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.
