We are seeking a permanent Geotechnical Engineer to join Sydney Waters Engineering and Technical Support business based out of our Parramatta office.

Responsibilities 

  • Provide technical assistance to the corporation to optimise asset lifecycle to deliver services that meet customer expectations.
  • Be a subject matter expert in geotechnical engineering.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of standards, assist in design reviews, work within the Engineering Assurance framework, and provide other technical support as required.
  • Assist in driving innovation, particularly in digital and sustainable infrastructure approaches, where appropriate and consistent with Sydney Water’s corporate strategy.

Essential Criteria: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent that is recognised under the Washington Accord.
  • 5 years of relevant experience, predominantly in geotechnical engineering.
  • Experience with field and laboratory geotechnical investigations, design of foundations and earth retention systems, soil-structure interaction analysis and constitutive modelling in geotechnical engineering.
  • Knowledge and understanding of geotechnical aspects of water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, communication and technical report writing skills.
  • Experienced in application of Quality Assurance Systems
