This role is an opportunity to work on the biggest water sensitive urban design and integrated water cycle management project in Australia. You will manage key elements of the integrated stormwater strategic planning and delivery for the Western Sydney Aerotropolis and ensure integration with waterway management
This role will have specific focus and responsibility for a major integrated stormwater scheme that combines large-scale stormwater harvesting with a dedicated recycled water distribution system, within a landscape-led approach to urban planning.
This role is for an industry leader in WSUD, waterway health, stormwater harvesting, and recycled water systems. It requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, local and state government agencies, developers, and consultants.
What you will be doing:
- Set the vision and drive the finalisation of planning and initial deployment of the Integrated Stormwater Schemes in the Aerotropolis.
- Lead team members in the assessment of stormwater elements within relevant development applications and provide timely feedback to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical expert advice to the Wianamatta Program Manager regarding the progress of stormwater planning and integration with recycled water distribution network and preparing information for the Project Control Group and the Aboriginal Advisory Committee of the Regional Stormwater Authority.
- Meet with key stakeholders from government, industry, traditional knowledge holders and the community to listen to their perspectives and shape a pathway for innovative stormwater servicing.
- Lead in situations by providing frank and fearless technical advice and solutions that balance innovation, risks and exposure when achieving multiple values within a sustainable water servicing solution.
About you:
- Leader in technical stormwater planning and influencer of industry issues, integrated water management, urban waterway health or water sensitive city concepts with relevant research and best practice experience.
- Superior knowledge of the role that urban water management plays in achieving urban aspirations and outcomes, including concepts such as integrated urban water management, urban ecology, urban waterway health and water sensitive cities.
- Understanding of urban planning, development, the implications of population and economic growth, and the emerging challenges faced by our cities and communities
- Degree in one of the following subject areas: Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Urban Planning or a related field.
