About the role
Reporting to the Engineering Services Leader the purpose of the Operational Planner ensures new assets are maintainable and operable, and that safety, customer and environmental risks are effectively managed during the connection of new/renewed/adjusted assets to the water, recycled water, wastewater and stormwater networks.
The Engineering Services team provides operational expertise in the management of the water, recycled water, wastewater and stormwater networks to achieve customer, shareholder and regulatory requirements.
The team protects Sydney Water's assets, customers, and the environment by:
- Review designs of new network assets to ensure that they can be operated and maintained
- Respond to network enquires – providing subject matter expertise
- Provide expert operational input into asset planning, renewals and creation processes, policies & strategies
- SME for nominated major infrastructure program(s), working with Program Coordinators and internal / external stakeholders
- Comply with relevant Operating Licence, Customer Contract and other regulatory requirements including EPA and Department of Health.
About you
This position will ideally suit a team member with an engineering background or water construction experience who is well versed in stakeholder management seeking an opportunity for growth and development:
- A tertiary qualification in engineering, Diploma in Water Industry Operations, or experience deemed equivalent relating to the operations and maintenance of network assets.
- Current drivers license and own vehicle with flexibility to work in office or travel across SW sites for field support.
- Advanced communication skills and personal qualities (innovative, motivation, self confidence and tact) allowing strong stakeholder engagement
- Knowledge in how networks are operated to deliver water, recycled water, wastewater, and stormwater product and services to meet customer and stakeholder expectations
- Experience in developing network operational plans to effectively manage safety, customer, system and environmental risks
- Knowledge of quality management systems relevant to water, recycled, wastewater, stormwater systems
