Water Supply & Production (a business unit in Sydney Water) is responsible for supplying drinking water to 5 million customers. The Metro Water Hub is part of the business unit and is responsible for the water quality facilities across the water network along with chemical dosing and odour control facilities across the wastewater network. The team also operates and maintains a number of external customer owned recycled water plants.
You will be able to make a real difference through this essential service to the community and the environment. The workplace includes some office but mainly outdoor activities while working with a diverse group of employees. You will be offered formal and in-house training to skill you for the role.
- Production Officers in Sydney Water’s Metro Water Hub team are responsible for operating re chlorination plants and water quality instruments across the water network to help manage water quality, chemical dosing units and odour control units across the wastewater network to help manage corrosion and some customer owned recycled water plants to agreed Health Standards and Legislative requirements
- The plants are located across Sydney, Illawarra and the Blue Mountains and have varying levels of automation
- The role requires lots of independent field work with chemicals and equipment along with travel
About you
The ideal candidates for these positions would have:
- Trade qualifications (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation), tertiary qualifications in Engineering/Science or significant relevant experience deemed equivalent
- A strong safety, quality, efficiency and customer focus
- Experience in ‘hands-on’ problem solving and trouble-shooting process equipment,
- Good people skills and experience in coordinating internal and external service providers,
- An understanding and experience in management systems (eg safety, quality, environment),
- An understanding and experience in control systems (eg PLC/SCADA) and IT systems (eg Microsoft Products, Maximo, Click)
- A personal drive for continuous improvement and to contribute to a positive team culture,
