About the Role

As a Program Manager, you will lead and oversee enterprise transformation programs that enhance Sydney Water, including operating model, processes, and technology. You will be responsible for successfully delivering programs to plan, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across all assigned initiatives. This includes managing cost, risk, and quality while driving collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams to resolve issues and mitigate risks.

This role is pivotal in delivering high-impact business transformation within the Utilities sector, leading change and enabling the adoption of new systems, processes, and ways of working, addressing commercial challenges and enabling a seamless transition to the target state.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead Program Delivery: Manage a cross-functional team, including project managers, to deliver multiple streams of activity under a program board comprising Sydney Water Executive General Managers. Oversee program planning, governance, resource coordination, and performance management across internal teams, delivery partners, and suppliers ensuring delivery is on time, within budget, and aligned to business priorities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ensure all key stakeholders are aligned on approach, milestones, risks, dependencies, and progress throughout the program lifecycle. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and engagement across teams.
  • Translate Design into Execution: Convert holistic solution designs into actionable plans with appropriate staging, ensuring alignment with the broader portfolio and strategic objectives. Manage interdependencies across projects and programs to ensure coordinated delivery and integrated outcomes.
  • Deliver Fit-for-Purpose Solutions: Guarantee solutions meet business needs within the scope of the business case, enhancing customer and employee experience. Develop and maintain the program business case and ensure delivered capabilities are aligned.
  • Manage Outcomes: Oversee time, cost, quality, and benefits, ensuring optimal resource allocation, maximising the effective allocation of budget, resources and skills across the program to meet objectives efficiently and deliver value to the organisation.
  • Drive Change and Transformation: Lead and support change management and transformation initiatives within the program, ensuring successful adoption of new processes, systems, or ways of working and fostering a culture of innovation and adaptability.

About You

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project and Program management or related field and demonstrated experience in enterprise business solution implementations, and within a large, complex and high-profile digital project/program environment. Significant level of industry experience, including working within and leading large, multi-disciplinary integrated teams, delivery within the infrastructure/utilities sectors, and managing complex stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Capabilities:

  • Program Management: Demonstrated high level of skills, knowledge and experience in applying program and project management methodologies and frameworks. with emphasis on comprehensive program planning, governance, and risk and issue management ensuring programs are delivered on time and, within scope and budget, and aligned to business priorities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to take a lead role across business, vendor and project stakeholders. Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to influence, negotiate, and engage with people across business areas to achieve high quality outcomes.
  • Business Acumen and Financial Management: Strong experience in program reporting and analysis to identify trends and issues for remediation. Extensive experience in managing large program and project budgets, monitoring expenditures and benefits realisation.
  • Change Management: Proven experience in change management and transformation activities, driving the adoption of new systems, processes, and ways of working.
