About the Role
This role in the Customer Hub - Systems Operations Center (SOC) is integral to ensuring the efficient operation of assets connected to the Integrated Instrumentation, Control, Automation & Telemetry System (IICATS). You will help maintain optimal performance across water and wastewater systems, ensuring that they meet delivery requirements and function effectively under all conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate water and wastewater systems using IICATS, following established rules and procedures, and utilising operational decision support tools to determine daily operating parameters and schedules.
- Respond to system alarms promptly, managing equipment faults in line with operating protocols.
- Share knowledge and collaborate with your team to continuously improve operational performance.
- Implement and maintain robust processes and procedures for smooth operations.
- Work collaboratively across departments to achieve shared goals and deliver quality work.
- Champion safety and wellbeing, ensuring a safe working environment and adherence to safety policies.
- Uphold Sydney Water’s values and contribute to a positive, inclusive work culture.
- Minimise the impact of system issues on customers, the environment, and business operations.
This position will be based in an operational environment, with a 24/7 rotating shift, 8-hour morning, afternoon and night.
About you
We’re looking for someone with a strong background in water and wastewater system operations who can navigate complex issues and provide effective solutions.
- Ability to solve complex operational problems related to water and/or wastewater systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulic design for complex water supply and wastewater systems.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and organise tasks effectively to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- An understanding of the importance of communication in a central operations control room and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
