What’s the role?

Joining our extended Work Programming and Optimisation business, the Waste Water and Stormwater Programs Team influence the impact of environmental outcomes on the community Sydney Water supports.

This role will focus on reviewing asset condition and serviceability of sewer mains and creating corrective workorders and monitoring their delivery through service providers, it offers an opportunity to extend responsibility into managing sewer network investigations related to siltation and saltwater ingress.

  • Implement system, asset and/or product strategies to improve the performance of the wastewater network through reviewing CCTV, evaluating corrective maintenance options and creating workorders.
  • Evaluate environmental and safety factors to ensure corrective maintenance options protect the environment and safety of service providers
  • Creating plans for service providers to enable effective identification of field assets for inspection and reporting
  • Contribute to management strategies and policies within the nominated focus areas
  • Effectively communicate and deal with customer enquiries & complaints in a coordinated and efficient manner
  • Involvement in process improvement for reliability, maintainability and operability of Sydney Water’s assets within the area of operations
  • Assist and lead salt water ingress investigations within a defined sewer pumping station catchment as allocated


Who are we looking for?

  • An interest in engineering or a related discipline including in asset operations, maintenance / renewals, system planning, asset management aspects of wastewater and/or storm water systems
  • Sound communication skills (verbal & written) and personal qualities (innovation, motivation, self-confidence, social interaction)
  • Experience in dealing with customers or community groups
  • Understanding of processes or operating assets that meet customer expectations
  • An ability in measurement, analysis and evaluation of performance
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and willingness to accept challenges and deliver assigned projects as part of a team or as an individual
  • Ability to understand Regulatory requirements
  • Computer skills in MS office programs, databases, google maps / GIS systems or similar

Additional notes:

  • Must have a current driving licence or can obtain one immediately
  • Ability to work outside normal working hours, either from home, office or in the field if required
