Join Sydney Water’s Network Maintenance Group, Where Every Day Makes a Difference
About the Role
As a vital member of our Network Maintenance Group, you’ll be on the front line responding to urgent callouts, repairing broken water mains, maintaining critical water and wastewater assets, and delivering exceptional service to our community. You may also take on more complex jobs or play a key role in supporting daily work coordination.
A Day in the Life
Imagine working with the team, discussing the day’s priorities and safety briefings. You’ll gear up, check your vehicle and equipment, and head out across Greater Sydney, no two days are ever the same.
- Onsite Action: Whether it’s a burst water main in a busy street, a blocked sewer in a suburban neighbourhood, or routine maintenance on a critical valve, you’ll be the expert on the ground. You’ll use advanced field technology and digital tools to diagnose issues, capture data, and communicate with your team in real time.
- Problem Solving: You’ll think on your feet, working with skilled colleagues to quickly assess situations, implement safe work methods, and restore services efficiently. You’ll liaise with customers, explain what’s happening, and deliver solutions with a positive, can-do attitude. You will troubleshoot non-routine problems and offer advice to the team in challenging situations.
- Teamwork & Safety: Safety is your top priority. You’ll identify hazards, use PPE, and follow strict protocols to protect yourself, your team, and the public. You’ll share knowledge, support your mates, and contribute ideas to improve how we work. You may help guide the day’s work and provide on the ground support.
- Innovation: Embrace new ways of working—trialling the latest technology, adapting to changing conditions, and always looking for smarter, safer, and more sustainable solutions.
- Customer Focus: Every interaction is a chance to make a difference—whether you’re answering a resident’s question or ensuring a business can keep trading, your work matters to every Sydneysider.
