Head of Learning and Development

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager People and Culture, you will be part of a leadership team transforming the culture and capability of Sydney Water. Following a recent review of our learning and development function, you will collaboratively build a roadmap that address its findings and builds a right-sized capable central team and fosters a broader learning community to deliver results in line with our strategy.

In this role you will have oversight of several significant early career programs including significant numbers of graduates and trainees to ensure we build talent to fuel our growth ambitions. You will work closely with peers to establish a comprehensive enterprise wide curriculum of learning covering all facets of our operations including customer service, safety, engineering, professional development and leadership at all levels. You will lead the implementation of a contemporary learning management system with brand new content, aligned policies and efficient processes.

About you

You will have significant professional and leadership experience gained in a commercial setting, ideally in a highly customer focussed and technical environment. It is also important that you can demonstrate:

  • Proven experience leading a mid-sized organisational development or learning function
  • Experience leading or influencing successful transformational change
  • Successful track record in collaboration and influencing within a matrix reporting structure
  • Contemporary knowledge and experience with online learning systems and processes
  • Understanding of training compliance requirements in a high-risk operating environment
  • Solid commercial acumen evidenced through achievements and business impact, with a strong preference for pragmatic solutions in a cost conscience environment 
  • Relevant qualifications in Human Resources, Adult Education, Learning and Development, Organisational Development or a related field
