About the role

As the Employee Communications Advisor, you will help us bring our strategy to life, building on our reputation for world-class services, growing water literacy and taking advocacy for a circular economy to the global community.  

Accountabilities & Deliverables

  • Develop, deliver and implement employee communication and engagement strategies to promote the brand, protect reputation, manage issues and deliver successful programs.  
  • Provide input into reports including employee engagement, issues status, and evaluate and report on internal communication deliverables and channels.
  • Develop a sound understanding of the business and build trusted internal relationships that support the delivery of highly-effective employee communication and engagement outcomes.
  • Research and implement best practice approaches and methods to communication and engagement, that takes into account new technologies, employee beliefs, attitudes and preferences.
  • Ongoing analysis of communication and engagement channels to identify improvement needs and opportunities.
  • Respond to complaints and enquiries and feedback from a variety of channels.
  • Coordinate, plan and prepare content for all employee communication channels. Prioritise content aligned to strategic objectives and principles of employee engagement. These channels include eNews, iConnect, SharePoint, Leaders Latest, Waterways, Yammer, lift and computer wall paper messages, etc.
  • Work with the Brand, Media and Marketing team in the coordination and organisation of internal events including recognition events, employee information sessions, leadership forums, Managing Director and executive road shows, special events such as NAIDOC, safety weeks etc.
  • Manage contractors, including monitoring and reviewing their work to ensure compliance with Sydney Water policies and procedures.
  • Develop and oversee a content approvals process, ensuring sign-off by relevant internal stakeholders for communications and engagement plans, messaging, Q&As, fact sheets, publications and video/online content.

About you

Degree qualification in a communications, business, journalism/marketing, human resources or a related field, or experience deemed equivalent.

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in communications roles in a complex environment experiencing change
  • Experience in project planning and the reporting and evaluation of outcomes
  • Experience in the development and delivery of employee communication plans
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and work cooperatively with people at all levels to achieve outcomes
  • A strong team player with proven ability to collaborate with others to achieve goals
  • Demonstrated verbal communication and presentation skills and good negotiation, problem solving and liaison skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritise projects and working to tight deadlines, across multiple stakeholders
  • Sound planning, influencing, negotiation, facilitation and issues and crisis management skills
  • Ability to critically analyse data and information, interpret and present complex material to diverse audiences
